Welcome to Text and Context: Integrating Tanakh and History

I am Tikvah Wiener, a teacher at The Frisch School in Paramus, New Jersey. Though I've taught and I teach English and AP Art History, I am now integrating Tanakh with history, art history and ancient culture in general. This past school year, I explored with the students, in five PowerPoint presentations, the lives of Avraham, Yitzchak, Ya'akov, and Yosef, against the backdrop of Mesopotamian and Egyptian culture. I also prepared PowerPoint presentations on Islamic art as well as the role and art of the Gothic Cathedral for use in Jewish History classes. Over the summer, I'll be preparing presentations on Shmot as well as on the Five Megillot for use over the 2007-8 school year.
